The Government of Sverdlovsk Region has financed the purchase of 23 SPAS fire-fighting modules manufactured by the Yaskin Research and Development Enterprise “Start”, a part of Technodinamika Holding , to be used by volunteer fire brigades in Sverdlovsk Region.

The delivery of modules is scheduled for the third quarter of 2015. According to statistics, this is the most fire-prone period of the year. The Start design will help to reduce fire hazards.

The SPAS fire-fighting module is a unique mobile unit designed specifically for volunteer mobile fire brigades. This is a patented mobile device for localizing fires based on a state-of-the-art trailer, which includes a water container, a powerful motor pump with fire hoses and nozzles, and a set of primary fire extinguishing equipment (fire extinguishers, buckets, shovels, crowbars, hooks, etc.). The module can be towed by vehicles such as Niva, UAZ, GAZelle, and by tractors. The tank can be filled with water from a natural source in less than 4 minutes. The module is designed for a two-person crew.

In 2015, Sverdlovsk Region will spend about RUB 7.2 mln from its budget on the development of volunteer fire brigades, including RUB 4.7 mln on the purchase of fire-fighting equipment manufactured by Start Research and Development Enterprise.

Last year, Start made a large delivery of fire-fighting modules for a total of RUB 4.9 mln to 27 volunteer fire brigades.

Currently, there are 471 volunteer fire brigades and 5 volunteer fire crews, numbering a total of 2795 people, in rural settlements in 65 municipal entities.
