Lean production techniques have been introduced in the Yekaterinburg enterprise using the 5S system: sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain. This increases labor productivity, improves product quality, and keeps the manufacturing culture at a high level.
"We are now holding special 5S training sessions for our production staff, creating workplace benchmarks in blank, mechanical processing, assembly and welding productions," said Vladimir Tretyakov, temporary CEO of the enterprise. "All production workplaces will be brought up to the benchmarks by the end of the year. Our calculations show that implementing the 5S system will shorten non-productive time losses by 20%, and in-process defective products by 7%. The implementation of lean production principles will also give us the opportunity to improve assembly line efficiency, and decrease assembly operation labour input by 20%."
